Anxiety is part of our natural defensive system --“ a close cousin to fear". Anxiety is an extremely necessary mechanism, without anxiety we would be at risk. Anxiety is often triggered by stress in our lives. Let's face it: Stress is an inescapable part of modern living, and anxiety is a normal reaction to the constant tension in our lives. Actually, some anxiety is healthy and helps to provide needed motivation. But for some people anxiety becomes overwhelming and may interfere with the normal functioning of life. Experts believe that a significant change in your behavior may be a sign that your anxiety is overwhelming you. The good news is that social anxiety is very treatable, and you may not even need medication to treat it.

Often mistaken for serious physical problems, symptoms of a panic attack, or anxiety symptoms, are hard to accept for some. Physical anxiety symptoms and stress related complaints are a common problem for many people. New medications are currently being tested or are under development to treat anxiety symptoms. The truth is that exercise is one of the best tools you have to turn the tables on your anxiety symptoms. Self-help and relaxation techniques also play an important role in relieving anxiety symptoms. Gentle exercises that encourage relaxation, such as meditation or yoga or Tai-Chi, may be helpful in reducing anxiety symptoms

Anxiety attacks are an issue that plagues individuals from time to time. Anxiety attacks are when you start feeling like jumping out of your skin, your heart starts racing, you start sweating. You feel uneasy and may have light physical symptoms like an irritable stomach but for the most part anxiety attacks have little physical symptoms. Stress is a big contributor to anxiety attacks, but the possibilities are truthfully endless. These anxiety attacks can range from mild discomfort to debilitating agoraphobia and this is a condition that can strike anyone. It is also important to understand that panic and anxiety attacks can actually be linked to your body's rather natural response to danger. Clearly, the evidence shows that by taking on a healthier lifestyle, you can reduce if not eliminate your anxiety attacks

Social anxiety disorder (social phobia) affects 7-8% of the population at any given time. Social anxiety disorder is defined as the fear (anxiety) of being judged, criticized, and evaluated by other people. People with Social Anxiety Disorder may find it difficult to make new friends and to date, and they may find career opportunities limited by their anxiety. People with social anxiety may have specific panic attacks / anxiety attacks in situations where they feel they may embarrass themselves in some way. People suffering from social anxiety are often called 'shy', but shyness does not necessarily indicate an anxiety disorder. But we now know that many "shy" people actually have "Social Anxiety Disorder.

Anxiety is an extremely necessary mechanism, without anxiety we would be at risk. Test anxiety is an issue that many students face at one time or another. Anxiety is a normal part of our existence.
